The Judicial Council decided to convene Latvian Judges Conference on May 20.
The theme of this year's Сonference is "Independence of the Judiciary in the Interests of a Democratic Society". The topic will also address the efficiency of the judiciary, the selection of candidates for the position of judges, the self-government of judges and other issues of accountability of the judiciary, which ensure the independence of the judiciary.
