The development of a new procedure for selection of judges is on the agenda of the Council for the Judiciary aiming to introduce a conceptually new approach that meets the modern requirements for the position of a judge.
In order to develop a quality professional standard for the position of a judge, the Council of Justice set up a working group consisting of Ineta Ziemele, President of the Constitutional Court, Aigars Strupiss, Chair of the Department of Civil Cases of the Supreme Court, Dzintra Balta, acting judge of the Department of Civil Cases of the Supreme Court, and Janis Bordans, the Minister of Justice.
