Until the end of February, European judges are taking part in a single electronic survey for the fourth time, expressing their views on various aspects of judicial independence.
According to Filippo Donati, President of the ENCJ, the conducting of such a survey in 2022 is particularly important "given the current developments in the sphere of judicial independence in several European countries and the potential impact of the Covid-19 pandemic".
The survey data are analysed and further used in the development of both EU-level studies (EU Justice Scoreboard) and national judicial policy documents.
The previous Survey on the Independence of Judges took place in 2018 and involved almost 11,000 judges from 27 judicial systems.
