On Tuesday, the 8th of May, at 12.00 o’clock, joint session of the Saeima’s Legal Affairs Committee, The Board of Justice and the representative of the Cabinet of Ministers in international human rights institutions will take place in Red Hall of the Saeima (the Parliament). Participants will discuss report of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs “About Cases Reviewed by the European Court on Human Rights, in which imperfection of operation of national courts was reason of claims submitted”.
Taking into account that report that been reviewed in session of the Cabinet of Ministers on the 28th of March, contains information about problems in work of courts, the Legal Affairs Committee decided to discuss solutions about possible amendments to laws to obviate violations of norms established in the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms in future.
Ilma Cepane, the Chair of the Legal Affairs Committee points out that both Board of Justice and Inga Reine, the author of the report, are invited to the session to search for solutions how to make litigation proceedings more effective and to improve quality of legal standards.
