Taking into account the crucial role that the chairs of courts plays in the organization of the work of the judiciary and the strengthening of its independence, the Council for the Judiciary, with the utmost responsibility, carries out the task entrusted to it by law, namely, the establishing of the procedure for nominating and appointing judges.

The Council for the Judiciary agreed on a range of candidates that can apply for an open competition for the position of chairs and deputy chairs of district (city) courts, as well as on a unified committee for assessment of candidates, its composition and functions. The Council for the Judiciary will continue its work on the procedure for nominating and appointing chairs of courts at the next sitting of the Council for the Judiciary.

The Council for the Judiciary reviewed an issue in the sitting of 28 January 2019.
