28 February, 2022

At its meeting on 25 February, the Judicial Council approved a new version of the Rules of Procedure of the Judicial Qualification Committee, regulating the work of the Committee in accordance with the new procedure for selecting candidates for judicial offices, taking into account the Disciplinary Court's instructions on the need for clear criteria for the evaluation and transfer of judges to a regional court.

The new rules of procedure establish a uniform procedure and introduce precise criteria for giving an opinion on a judge's suitability for work in a regional court, both for a permanent work and for a work during a temporary absence of another judge.

The Rules of Procedure have been supplemented with a new section on the extraordinary evaluation of a judge, providing an opinion on the suitability of a judge for work in a regional court.

New substantive annexes to the regulations have been developed, which define the various documents required for the evaluation of a candidate.

The Rules of Procedure of the Judicial Qualification Committee also update a number of procedural issues in accordance with the procedure established in practice since the approval of the previous Rules of Procedure in 2018.
