Having readdressed the issue of selection of candidates for the position of regional court judges, the Judicial Council confirmed the opinion that the selection of candidates for the position of regional court judges should be performed in a different manner than for candidates for the position of district (city) court judges.

In its decision of December 30, the Judicial Council determined that a separate selection procedure based on an external competition should be established for the selection of candidates for the position of a judge of a regional court.

Currently, an internal competition among judges of first-instance courts is first held to select candidates for the position of regional court judges. Such procedure is valid until the development and approval of a new regulatory framework.
