20 October, 2021

On Friday, October 22, issues relevant to the operation and development of the judicial system are on the agenda of the meeting of the Judicial Council.

The Judicial Council will discuss the action plan developed by the Working Group on Strengthening the Efficiency of the Judiciary. The information gathered by the Working Group and the priorities identified will form the basis for further examination of issues by the Judicial Council.

It is also planned to approve a new procedure for the selection of judges of district (city) courts and regional courts.

The Judicial Council will also consider proposals for amendments to the Law on Remuneration of Officials and Employees of State and Local Government Authorities. Certain provisions in the draft law also affect judges and prosecutors, therefore the State Chancellery requests the opinion of the Judicial Council on the prepared amendments.

The Judicial Council will discuss the issues on the agenda of the General Assembly of the European Network of Councils for the Judiciary. The meeting of the General Assembly will take place in Vilnius on October 27-29 this year.
