Council for the Judiciary supported the transfer of judge of Riga Northern District Court Madara Abele to the position of a judge of regional court.
It is established that after approval by the Parliament, she will discharge duties of a judge of Riga Regional Court.
Madara Abele responded to the announcement of competition for the position of a judge at the Collegium of Civil Cases of Riga Regional Court. Since 2013 the judge performs duties of deputy judge in the Collegium.
In turn, Valmiera District Court judge Guna Krievina was appointed to discharge duties of a judge of Vidzeme Regional Court during vacancy period, which in accordance with the second paragraph of the Article 77 of Law "On Judicial Power" shall not exceed two years.
From September 2016, there is vacant positon of a judge in Vidzeme Regional Court, as judge Martins Abele has retired.
The Council for the Judiciary adopted the decisions in a written procedure on 13 March.
