The Board of Justice decided to convene annual Latvian Judges’ Conference on September 5, and conceptually agreed that the fundamental issue at this conference shall be assessment of the first stage of activity of the Board of Justice and elections of new composition of the Board.

The Board of Justice as the institution, which participates in development of policies and strategy of the court system and improvement of organisation of work of the court system, in accordance with the law “On Judicial Power” was established in 2010.  

According to the law, the Board of Justice consists of 15 members – eight permanent members (officials) and seven elected members – judges, elected by the Plenary Session of the Supreme Court and Judges’ Conference for the term of four years.

The issue was reviewed in the sitting of the Board of Justice on June, 16
