Iveta Andzane, judge of Zemgale District Court, who was nominated by the district (city) court judges, was elected as a member of the Judicial Ethics Commission for a term of four years.
Iveta Andzane was the only candidate for this position to replace the former member of the Judicial Ethics Commission Guntars Plorins who resigned from the office due to his election as a member of the Council for the Judiciary.
Iveta Andzane already has experience in the work of the Judicial Ethics Commission, as she was a member of the first composition of the Commission following its establishment in 2010.
According to the law “On Judicial Power”, members of the Judicial Ethics Commission are elected for a term of four years, and one judge may hold this position for no more than two consecutive terms.
The election took place on 29 November during Judges’ Electronic Conference; 302 out of 552 judges took part in the election.
