From 1 January of this year, a new structural unit has commenced its work at the Supreme Court – Secretariat of the Council for the Judiciary. Its basic function is ensuring the operation of the Council for the Judiciary.
Strengthening the capacity of the Council for the Judiciary is one of the Supreme Court’s initiatives for 2017 supported by the Council for the Judiciary, and the funding for the establishment of Secretariat of the Council for the Judiciary is regulated by the Law "On State Budget for 2017".
Acting Head of the Secretariat of the Council for the Judiciary is Solvita Harbacevica, Advisor to the Division of Case-law and Research on EU law issues. Secretariat has another three employees - Adviser Dace Sulmane, Legal Adviser Linda Kalnina and Consultant Irina Casa.
