Appointment of head of departments of land books is supported

The Board of Justice in its session on the 4th of February, which took place in written procedure, supported appointment of heads of eight departments of land books of district (city) courts in their posts.

Inta Orlicka is appointed in the post of the Head of the Department of land books of Bauska district court for the term of five years, Juris Taukuls – in Daugavpils court, Inese Trede – in Jelgava court, Liga Ieleja – in Jekabpils court, Inese Caksa – in Gulbene district court, Aija Grave – in Valka district court, Jolanta Abolina – in Talsi district court, Zanna Zujeva – in Riga city Vidzeme Suburb court.

Heads of departments of land books of district courts are appointed by the Ministry of Justice, upon coordination with the Council of Justice. Seven heads of departments of land books, whose candidatures were supported by the Council of Justice, are elected in the post repeatedly. I.Orlicka and I.Caksa have managed departments of land books since 1993, and J.Taukuls, I.Trede, L.Ieleja, A.Grave and Z.Zujeva – since 2008. Jolanta Abolina has been approved in the post of the Head of the Department of land books of Talsu district court for the first time.

The judge Strakse is supported for the post of the vice-Chair of Riga city Ziemelu district court

The Board of Justice supported appointment of the judge Sanita Strakse in the post of the vice-Chair of Riga city Ziemelu district court for the term of five years.

Sanita Strakse has worked in the post of the judge of Riga city Ziemelu district court since 2007.

The judge of Zemgale regional court will execute duties of a judge of the Supreme Court

The Board of Justice instructed Vilis Donans, the judge of Zemgale regional court, to execute duties of a judge of the Chamber of Criminal Cases of the Supreme Court during the time of a vacancy of the judge, as from the 8th of February.

Positive statement for V.Donans to execute duties of a judge of the Supreme Court was given by the Judicial Qualifications Committee.  

V.Donans had already executed duties of a judge of the Chamber of Criminal Cases of the Supreme Court for two years – between 2011 and 2013.

Pursuant to Paragraph Two Section 79 of the law “On Judicial Power”, the Council of Justice, upon proposal of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and having received positive statement of the Judicial Qualification Committee, may instruct the Honoured Judge of the Supreme Court or a judge of a regional court to replace a judge of the Chamber for the period of vacancy or temporary absence of a judge for the term of not exceeding two years.
