On Monday, June 3, a meeting of the Council for the Judiciary will take place, during which the Council for the Judiciary will consider the new procedure for the selection, traineeship and taking of qualification examination of a candidate to the office of a judge. The aim of developing a new selection procedure for judicial candidates is to introduce a conceptually new approach that meets the modern requirements for the office of a judge.

Also, the novelty in the Latvian judicial system is the idea of ​​establishing an economic court. The Council for the Judiciary will hear information about the concept drawn up by the Ministry of Justice. While the Court Administration will report to the Council for the Judiciary on the performance results of 2018.

The Council for the Judiciary will also discuss information on the EU Justice Scoreboard 2019, the latest European Commission report on the performance results of the European Union in the area of ​​justice.
