At the meeting of the Council for the Judiciary to be held on Monday, January 28, the Council will continue to elaborate the procedures for the nomination and appointment of chairs and deputy-chairs of district (city) courts and regional courts, as well as chairs of courthouses.

The Council for the Judiciary started to consider this issue at its December meeting, discussing a draft procedure prepared by the Ministry of Justice. It was decided to continue the work at the next meeting of the Council for the Judiciary, taking into account the proposals made. The Secretariat of the Council for the Judiciary, in its turn, should prepare a report on the experience of other countries in the evaluation of the judicial candidates and on the functions of the nomination committee.

The Council for the Judiciary will also decide on the number of senators in the departments of the Supreme Court and on Judges’ Conferences. As well as other issues are on the agenda.
