In the sitting of the Council for the Judiciary to be held on Monday, 15 February, several issues will be reviewed upon proposal of the Ministry of Justice.
The Ministry of Justice has submitted to the Council for the Judiciary report on several options of expansion and implementation of advocate’s procedure in particular categories of civil cases, for discussion. The Ministry performed such study in accordance with task established in the Government Action Plan, namely, to create model of proceedings, which would ensure more qualitative, speedy and effective resolution of disputes, at the same time reducing work load of courts.
The Council for the Judiciary will get familiarised with model of assessment of the system of justice prepared by the Court Administration within framework of the Project on European Structural Funds. This assessment of the system will serve as a basis for elaboration of the plan of development of the system of justice.
The Council for the Judiciary will also discuss issue related to salaries of employees of courts and public prosecutor’s office; decide on support to preservation of participation of the state in the Courthouse Agency, on convocation of Latvian Judges’ Conference, and other issues.
The sitting of the Council for the Judiciary will be held on Monday, 15 February, in Room 461 of the Supreme Court, the beginning is at 13.00 o’clock.
