On Monday, September 28, The Council for the Judiciary will consider budget request of regional courts and district (city) courts prepared by the Ministry of Justice, and budget request of the Supreme Court prepared by the Supreme Court, for 2016.
The Law on Budget and Financial Management envisages that the Cabinet of Ministers, when reviewing annual draft law on budget, hears the opinion of the Council for the Judiciary.
The Ministry of Justice asks for coordination by the Council for the Judiciary of amendments to the Judicial Disciplinary Liability Law, which would stipulate that the Chair of the Judicial Disciplinary Committee is one of Chairs of the departments of the Supreme Court. Previously, the Chair of the Disciplinary Committee had been the deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme Court; however, such position does not exist anymore due to reorganisation of the Supreme Court established by the law.
The Council for the Judiciary will also discuss the agenda of the Latvian Judges’ Conference to be held on 13 November.
The agenda of the sitting also includes issues related to judicial careers.
The sitting of the Council for the Judiciary will be held on Monday, 28 September, in Room 461 of the Supreme Court, the beginning is at 13.00 o’clock.
