The Council for the Judiciary assessed and endorsed the Supreme Court's budget request for 2020, thus accepting two priority measures requiring additional funding - maintenance of the Supreme Court's information technology infrastructure – EUR 77,800, and an increase in remuneration of the Supreme Court’s employees of EUR 119,115.
The Council for the Judiciary also endorsed the Ministry of Justice's budget request for regional courts and district (city) courts for 2020, thus accepting two priority measures, namely, development of courts infrastructure, in particular, the centralization of Madona courts and partial relocation of Riga City Pardaugava Court, as well as renewal and maintenance of licenses of cloud services.
At the same time, the Council for the Judiciary once again draws attention to the need to continue the reform of the remuneration of the judiciary by providing it with the necessary funding from the state budget.
The Council for the Judiciary also draws attention to the Council's decision of 3 June not to support the creation of a separate economic court, and thus to provide funding for this purpose.
