On August 18, the Council for the Judiciary, grounding on Section 8911 Paragraph Three of the law “On Judicial Power”, decided to support candidacy of Ineta Ziemele for the office of a judge of the Constitutional Court.
The Council for the Judiciary reviewed request of the Presidium of the Saeima (parliament) of the Republic of Latvia to the Council for the Judiciary to provide opinion about the candidate for the office of a judge of the Constitutional Court in written procedure.
Judges of the Constitutional Court have been approved by the Saeima, having heard the opinion of the Council for the Judiciary.
