When reviewing an issue regarding budget request of regional courts and district (city) courts, and the Supreme Court, for 2016, the Council for the Judiciary voices alarm about the fact that the budget of the next year does not envisage increase of remuneration of employees of courts.

Members of the Council for the Judiciary pointed out that salaries of employees of courts currently are inadequate to necessary qualification and amount of work to be performed, and it is uncompetitive within public administration. Therefore, the fluidity of the personnel exceeds 40 per cent per annum decreasing efficiency and quality of work of courts, and it may affect individual’s right to fair trial.

Having, in general, supported drafts of court budgets, the Council for the Judiciary at the same time in its decision considers funding planned for remuneration of employees of courts to be insufficient. The Council for the Judiciary urges the Ministry of Justice to update this problem and to draw the attention of the Prime Minister to this fact.
