Upon initiative of Dzintars Rasnacs, the Minister of Justice, the Council for the Judiciary listened to his information on accomplishments in the system of justice, when working in the government of the Prime Minister Laimdota Straujuma. The Minister of Justice wants to implement the tradition that along with announcement of the Prime Minister on resignation, each minister provides a report to the highest state officials on his or her performance during his or her term of office.

Dzintars Rasnacs stressed – 22 from among 40 tasks, which fall under competency of the Minister of Justice and which were included in Government Action Plan, were completely fulfilled during his term of office, and execution of another 18 tasks has been commenced. 

When reporting to the Council for the Judiciary, the Minister of Justice stressed measures related to courts and other institutions represented in the council for the Judiciary. As the first one, Rasnacs mentioned elaboration of guidelines on communication of a court system and approval thereof in the Council for the Judiciary, which, in assessment of the Minister of Justice, is significant turn in work of courts.   

As important   tasks, the Minister pointed out amendments to law, which ensure right to enter into marriage at the sworn notary’s office, and implementation of regulation on shared property, envisaging an opportunity to terminate forced shared property relations in privatised apartment houses.     

In the report on performed tasks, the Minister also mentioned elaboration of draft law on abolishment of requirements of anonymisation, when publishing judgements adopted in criminal cases on crimes in public institutions service, and new procedure that will facilitate payment of sustenance from the Sustenance Guarantee Fund without mediation of a court and a bailiff.
