In accordance with Clause 78 of Transitional Provisions of the law “On Judicial Power” the Council for the Judiciary, upon proposal of the Minister of Justice, decided on transfer of judges of Riga city Centre district court and judges of Sigulda court to work to another court after incorporation of Riga city Centre district court and Sigulda court into another court as from 1 March.
In respect of judges of Riga city Centre district court, the Council for the Judiciary decided that Raimonds Buls and Velga Gailite have been transferred to Riga city Latgale suburb court; Andis Celms, Imants Dzenis, Karina Kraveca, Una Melameda, Sandra Melina and Rinalds Silakalns – to Riga city Vidzeme suburb court and Maira Grike – to Riga city Ziemelu district court.
Maija Andersone, Valija Grebezniece and Ineta Riekstina, judges of Sigulda court, in turn have been transferred to Riga district court.
All judges agreed to their transfer to another court.
The Council for the Judiciary also instructed judge Aija Ilstere appointed to the office of a judge of a district (city) court by the Saeima (Parliament) on 15 January to discharge judicial duties in Sigulda court until 28 February, and to transfer her to Riga district court as from 1 March.
Natalija Zavadska, who was also appointed to the office of a judge of a district (city) court by the Saeima, was instructed to discharge judicial duties in Riga district court.
