The European Network of Councils for the Judiciary (ENCJ) gathers 11-13 June in Rome to celebrate its 10th anniversary. Latvian Board of Justice is represented at the General Assembly by Ivars Bickovics, the Chairman of the Board of Justice.
The celebrations will start with reception hosted by the President of the Italian Republic, Mr Giorgio Napolitano, who also presides the Supreme Council for Judiciary (Consiglio Superiore della Magistratura). Throughout the two days of the General Assembly the reports of the ENCJ projects will be presented, discussed and adopted.One of general reports contains analysis of mechanisms of allocation of cases in Member States, and the other research included aspects of judicial independence and accountability.
Furthermore the ENCJ 2014-2018 work plan will be discussed and a Rome Declaration will be adopted at the General Assembly.
The European Network of Councils for the Judiciary (ENCJ) is non-for-profit organisation, which unites institutions responsible for the support of judiciaries of the Member States of the European Union (EU). The Network was founded in 2004 to promote cooperation, mutual exchange of experience and analysis of common information between the Councils for the Judiciary of the EU Member States. Latvian Board of Justice has been the member of the ENCJ since 2011.
