Instruction on replacement of higher court judges: the Council for the Judiciary instructed a judge of Regional Administrative Court Anita Kovalevska to replace judge of the Supreme Court during temporary absence of a judge.
Under the Section 79 of the Law "On Judicial Power", during the Supreme Court judge's temporary absence, the Council for the Judiciary in compliance with proposition of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and receiving favorable opinion of the Judicial Qualification Committee may temporarily - not more than for two years - instruct judge of regional court to replace judge of the Supreme Court.
In turn, Ojars Prieditis, judge of District Administrative Court, was instructed by the Council for the Judiciary to execute duties of judge of Regional Administrative Court during judge's temporary absence. Judge Ieva Viskere is in long-term temporary absence by temporarily executing duties of judge of the Supreme Court.
Designation of Deputy Chair of the court: the Council for the Judiciary agreed with the proposition of the Minister of Justice to appoint Signe Grinberga, judge of Riga City Latgale District Court, Deputy Chair of Riga City Latgale District Court; she shall hold office for five years.
Tender Committee recognized Signe Grīnberga to be the best candidate for this office.
