The Council for the Judiciary supported prepared amendments to the Law on Disciplinary Liability of Judges, which envisage that the Judicial Disciplinary Committee will include one of Chairs of departments of the Supreme Court instead of the deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, and he or she will also hold the office of the Chair of the Judicial Disciplinary Committee.

Amendments to the law are necessary, because due to changes in structure of the Supreme Court the Chief Justice does not have deputies anymore, and term of office of the current Chair of the Judicial Disciplinary Committee – Peteris Dzalbe, the former deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme Court – expires.
