On Monday, November 27, at the sitting of the Council for the Judiciary, Ministry of Justice will provide an information about the plan of integration of judges of Land Registry Offices into the district (city) courts. It is planned that the integration will begin in 2019. As Land Registry Offices cease to exist as a structural units of district (city) courts, the competence of judges of Land Registry Offices will be increased regarding the examination of civil cases in connection with legal evidence in a case.

The Ministry of Justice will also present a draft project for selection procedure of judges. In order to find out possible solutions for improving the procedure for selection of judges, the working group established by the order of the Minister of Justice evaluated the existing procedure and drew up proposals for a fundamentally different procedure for the selection of judges and for the training of new judges.

The Council for the Judiciary will also discuss the objections of the State President to the amendments to the Law "On Judicial Power", regarding which the President requests the second review of the law. The Legal Affairs Committee of the Saeima asks the Council for the Judiciary to express its views on the proposals submitted by the President.

The sitting of the Council for the Judiciary will be held on November 27 at the Supreme Court, room 244, starting at 11.00.
